Box CMC (La Côte)
Box presenting the first vintage of the Conservatoire Mondial du Chasselas de Mont-sur-Rolle (CMC) (La Côte) !
Chasselas has been present in the Lake Geneva region for over 1,000 years.
It has very different shapes in terms of branches, leaves and grapes. This means that they all have a common origin, a single plant originating from a seed and then multiplied by cuttings (wood). The variations observed are the result of stable natural mutations that have occurred over time.
In order to safeguard the biodiversity of this grape variety, the main biotypes of Chasselas were planted by Louis-Philippe Bovard in Rivaz in 2009, then in Mont-sur-Rolle on our Petit Clos plot in 2017, in close collaboration with the Agroscope Pully research station.
On September 10, 2020, we picked our first grapes… Today, they are ready to be tasted!

Harvest on 7th September 2020
The 2020 vintage began with a very favourable spring. It was in the middle of the flowering period that cold and wet weather caused an unusual number of flowers and berries to drop off.
Then the weather was good and there was water at the right times.
As a result, the harvest started very early, on 7 September. Small grapes with a high concentration give birth to intense aromas and a mouth with a preserved vivacity.
When nature does things well, everything is easier.
Bottling was delayed to ensure careful maturation in line with the maturity of the different terroirs.
